    Plaquenil leg cramps

The recurrent, painful tightening usually occurs in the calf muscles and can cause severe insomnia. The exact mechanism is unknown, but the cramps are probably caused by muscle fatigue and nerve dysfunction rather than electrolyte or other abnormalities.

Side Effects Nausea, stomach cramps, loss of appetite, diarrhea, dizziness, or headache may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember. All blood work came back "normal", lupus is in remission/ inactive. Yay! Dr stopped Hydroxychloroquine plaquenil yesterday fearing it is now doing more harm than good. Over all I do feel it may have caused increased anxiety and depression and irritability.however lupus alone can trigger those symptoms I'm sure. Annual appointments with an ophthalmologist are important in order to catch any problems early.

Oct 24, 2013 After just 4 days on Plaquenil, I had severe stomach cramps, no appetite, GERD pain, diarrhea and a migraine. Not sure that the migraine was related but it happened on day 4. After contacting my Rheumatologist, I was told to stop taking the drug. QUOTE=DawnI have been on plaquenil for around 8 months or so but these leg cramps have just gotten worse and the ladies I work with told me to get calcium with magnesium. That would help out with the leg cramps but I am worried with all the meds that I take I am afraid that it might interact with the meds. Jul 18, 2008 I have been on 400 mg daily of Plaquenil, last week my doctor took me off of it ue to increase in the pain I had been having in lower back and unbelievable pain in my left leg and especially the extreme pain in the heel of my left foot. It was becoming painful to walk. After 5 days of stopping pain was 80% better.
