    Reducing plaquenil dosage

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

If anyone has experience with reducing their Plaquenil I would appreciate hearing their results. Preventing eye side effects from Plaquenil American Academy of Ophthalmology Recommended dosing for women ≥ 5’7” = 400 mg a day 5 ½” – 5’6 ½ “ = 300 mg a day The usual starting dose of Plaquenil is 200 mg twice a day or 400 mg once a day, administered orally, in people weighing 80 kg or more. The usual dosage works for most people who take Plaquenil, but it is possible to increase or decrease the dose based on individual needs. It's important to watch for possible side effects and toxicity.

Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. Or maybe another doctor if you're not comfortable w/your current one.

Hair loss w/ plaquenil temporary adjustment or permanent? I read that hair loss can be a side effect but the literature on RX from CVS says that's a "more serious" side effect and I should contact my doctor. However, it seems like there are a lot of posts on here and elsewhere about people losing hair because of Plaquenil.
